Creativity as a Tool for Change

Your Creativity Sparks a Voice That’s Louder Than You Think

Today, on International Women’s Day, we make a stand for the status of women in our societies and celebrate the social, economic, and political achievements of women. We are encouraged to #BeBoldForChange and commit ourselves to creating a more gender inclusive world. Our creativity can be used as a tool for change, and our voices are louder than we think!

It is a great opportunity to consider how we, as creative entrepreneurs, can vocalize and express our opinions through our creative passions. As a community we are capable of so much more than we are as individuals. Together, as bold women (and others who support us) we are able to make a greater impact and use our creativity as a tool for change.

Every day people are taking action to achieve full gender parity in the world. An excellent example of this was on January 21st with the Women’s March, which drew crowds in the millions and seemed to recharge a passion that led to a flood of creativity. The clever posters, spirited language, and passion-filled images caught international attention and captured a compelling message in the spirit of human rights, justice, and democracy.

It is this fitting example that reminds us, as professional creators – artists, photographers, writers, designers, musicians, DIYers, dreamers, and doers – that we have a duty to use our creativity as a voice. Our work expresses our emotions, opinions, and human journey. It’s our superpower that not only defines who we are, but defines the boundaries that can be pushed when used fearlessly. When we use our creativity with perseverance and authenticity, we become a powerful and unstoppable force.

“It took me quite a long time to develop a voice, and now that I have it, I am not going to be silent.” – Madeleine Albright

Creativity is an innate ability. It doesn’t hold prejudice or discriminate against race, age, sex, or status. It holds no precise definition; yet, it uniquely defines each one of us. Our mind’s ability to create is bigger than our physical being, and we are capable of even more when we learn to create together.

This is why we love what the Rising Tide Society stands for: Community over Competition. A place where we witness creative entrepreneurs coming together daily to share their struggles and successes, lift each other, and help inspire that creative spark within.

When we decide to break free from norms and express ourselves authentically, we start inspiring others to do the same. When we create together, we learn, we grow and our voices become louder and stronger. When we allow others to see our struggles and the way we transform that into a masterpiece, then suddenly we don’t feel as lonely in this world and they are empowered to do the same. Together, we become brave. We become bolder. We begin building momentum and creating a powerful movement.

“Creative thinking inspires ideas. Ideas inspire change.” – Barbara Januszkiewicz

On this International Women’s Day, champions of gender parity will stand together for equality through one day of solidarity. On this day, we join together to use our creativity as our voice. We unite to use our creativity as a vehicle for change and collaborate on a single goal: to end gender inequality for women. We challenge each other to listen to the voice inside our head and explore the depth of our creativity.

“Nothing is impossible to a determined woman” – Louisa May Alcot

With our collaboration and network of ideas, we can inspire and uplift others to keep striving for social and political progress.

Unite. Speak up. Get loud.

On March 8th, let’s raise our voices and commit ourselves to forming communities where women are empowered to lead, create, push past boundaries, and be unstoppable.
